Using Abodo Vulcan Nexus Cladding inside and out, the owners of this home near the lake in Taupo were able to achieve a sense of sleek consistency and a seamless look over double height faces.

Made using finger jointed timber, Abodo Vulcan Nexus delivers lengthy 6m spans, making it a wise choice for two storey homes.

Positioned alongside white-painted patterned brickwork, the timber is used both vertically and horizontally to create contrast and texture for the front facade.

Secret fixings enable a universal profile across the timber boards, important for a varied application like this one. By enabling long lengths, the specification of Abodo Vulcan Nexus also lowers build costs and reduces wastage from off-cuts, which often wind up in landfill.

From a practical standpoint, the timber’s lightweight properties mean the build time can also often be reduced, as the product can be handled easily by the build team and extended for use in applications like garage doors.

In this project, its use for the garage adds to the project’s consistent palette, with both brick and timber carried through to every detail of the design - right down to the perimeter fencing.

Inside the home, this minimal palette of white brick and dark timber creates a textured and contrasting result.

Both inside and out, Graphite Protector Coating is applied to the Vulcan thermally modified timber. The thermal modification process means it won’t buckle or warp – allowing the use of dark colours while maintaining dimensional stability. This process also means the timber requires minimal maintenance to retain its excellent finish.

Unique in its appearance, this Taupo home benefits from a creative use of materials as well as a careful specification of robust products, which means this seamless aesthetic will be retained for many years to come.
